Padstow is a picturesque, bustling fishing village situated in the Camel Estuary where the river meets the sea, but sheltered from the Atlantic by the magnificent headlands of Stepper and Pentire Points. The working harbour is always a hive of activity and is the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by in one of the waterside cafe’s or to listen to the various concerts that take place regularly over the summer months on the Bandstand.
Padstow has gained a reputation for its culinary excellence most notably for Rick Stein’s various eateries but there are also many other excellent restaurants and bistros, for example, “Paul Ainsworth at No.6”, “Rojano’s”, “Pescadou”, “Burgers and Fish” and “The Basement”. “Nathan Outlaw at St.Enodoc” is just a short ferry trip across the water to Rock. Jamie Oliver’s “15” is situated at Watergate Bay which is approximately 7 miles away.
We also have what has been described as “One of the top 10 Christmas Markets in Europe”, this is a four day event held every year at the beginning of December. It’s been getting bigger and better every year with celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, a wonderful undercover market, an amazing firework display, live music, carol singing and much much more .
